What "fully furnished" should actually mean
The phrase is used loosely across the short-let market. Here is the checklist we hold our own apartments to.
"Fully furnished" appears in almost every short-let listing, and it means very little on its own. A room with a bed and a wardrobe technically qualifies.
Here is what we check before an apartment goes live.
The kitchen test
Could you cook a proper meal tonight without buying anything except food? That means a working hob and oven, a fridge with a freezer compartment, pots, pans, a knife worth using, plates and cutlery for the maximum occupancy, and a kettle.
The work test
Could you take a two-hour video call comfortably? A desk and a chair with back support, a power socket within reach, and internet that does not drop.
The comfort test
Air conditioning that cools the room in under fifteen minutes, blackout curtains, hot water at any hour, and enough towels and bedding for a full changeover.
The contingency test
What happens when the power goes? A standby generator is not a luxury in Ghana — it is the difference between a good stay and a ruined one.
An apartment that passes all four is genuinely furnished. Anything less needs a caveat in the listing.
